PROVEN INNOVATORS

Mitchell prides itself on leading the way in innovative machinery.

Our goal is to reduce the footprint on operations connected to the environment and increase production, all the while ensuring the safety of our staff.

With over four decades experience in construction of water, gas and services pipelines, Mitchell has developed and patented a range of innovative pipeline construction equipment, including, trenchers, ploughs, weld-barges, spoil screens and bedding and padding plant to assist in delivering projects on-time.

These machines are designed to create minimal ground disturbance, lessening the environmental impact of pipe laying whilst improving the safety of the installation and ultimately the speed of construction.

The equipment and machinery, plus in-house implemented rigorous procedures and processes, assists us in maintaining a competitive edge in the industry and ensures that all plant and machinery is maintained to a very high standard – reducing emissions, down time, and the risk of spills and environmental accidents infield.

Safety First

Mitchell’s patented “WeldBarges”, provide greater safety for our operators by eliminating hazards with welding PE pipe. The trailer system, with rollers and lifting rams, guide the pipe into place on the welder without human interaction. With pipe not strung onto the ground, but loaded directly onto the WeldBarge, pipes are kept clean, straight and round, facilitating better welds and a cleaner finished product. Productivity is increased by having pipe go directly into the trench, complete with drain tees, bends and branch tees, as soon it is welded.

Low Impact Installation

The BulletPlow is a very low impact pipeline installation tool that offers unique environmental benefits and has proven to be highly successful when installing pipelines in sensitive areas or protected vegetation. This revolutionary technology allows for a trenchless construction method completely alleviating all erosion impacts on vegetation rejuvenation. The BulletPlow trenchless construction method is fast and efficient in construction; mitigating impacts on landholders.

Controlled, Fast Trenching

Mitchell’s developed and patented Kwikpipe trencher operates similarly to a giant circular saw; housed safely in a unit towed by a tractor, the saw slices through the ground at significant speed, providing a neat, narrow trench through clay or rock, producing a powder fine spoil material. The system is breaking records in small bore pipe installation, and like the BulletPlow, it is capable of high daily production rates.

Productivity, environmentally friendly

Mitchell’s ‘ShakerBoxes’ allow for the natural ground to be reused as padding without the need to import material from offsite, reducing the risk of pathogen spread. Unlike other bedding and padding systems, ours operates inside the trench and is very compact and efficient, allowing for productivity without forsaking the environment.

Backbone of the Fleet

Mitchell deploys a large fleet of bucket wheel trenchers that are the backbone machines for large diameter pipeline projects. Our fleet of bucket wheel trenchers have the latest imported hydraulic trenching technology installed on board, which delivers significant benefits to maximising machine uptime. The technology provides fully automated GPS level and grade control, whilst capturing as-constructed data.

LARGEST FLEET

Mitchell owns and operates one of Australia’s largest fleets of specialised plant and equipment enabling us to undertake any pipeline project.

As a specialised pipeline contractor Mitchell prefers to operate and maintain our own fleet of plant and equipment. This assures equipment is serviced and maintained and ready to work – limiting the need to ‘gear-up’ for projects and allowing rapid deployment Australia wide for ‘fast tracked’ projects. Mitchell prefer to own reputable brand, late model equipment that ensures maximum uptime and ready parts and service availability to prevent unnecessary delays.
